Stormy Aurora

Today I have a tape mani to show you, very simple in fact, but I'd say still very effective :-)

I started with three coats of Zoya Aurora (Ornate Collection), a medium purple scattered holo. I could have stopped at two coats, but I often use one coat more than necessary, just to make sure it doesn't look patchy.

As soon as Aurora was completely dry, I taped my nails diagonally with regular scotch tape and added one coat of Zoya Storm (Ornate Collection), in a way the same polish as Aurora, but black. I removed the tape quickly and finished with one coat of Esence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer. And yes, I did change the diagonal on my ring finger on purpose, as an accent nail.

Secret Matt Peri-Winkle

For this mani I combined two polishes with "peri" in their name.

My base color is China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le, a periwinkle (duh) creme. Formula was really nice, I used two coats for opacity, and look how shiny it dried (no topcoat on picture below)!

On top of Secret Peri-Wink-Le, I dabbed one coat of ILoveNailpolish Matthew Peri (yay, Chandler always was my favorite "Friend"), a clear base with "combination of periwinkle, gunmetal, navy blue, and prism glitters in various sizes and shapes"
(Source: ILoveNailpolish)

Due to the iridescent glitters, plus the non-mentioned holo hexes, this one is really sparkly. I finished the mani with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

ILoveNailpolish are available on Etsy and at their own shop.

Milquetoast

Some work-wear for today.

This is CrowsToes Milquetoast ( spring THIS Collection), a milky white base filled with copper hexes in various sizes plus golden holographic microglitter. I used three coats for this squishy look and finished with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel  Nails Top Sealer. Appliaction was easy, I had no issues with the formula.

Crows Toes polishes are available at Llarowe and Overall Beauty.

Flakies After Eight

It's monday again! Anyone remember that certain orange tomcat who hates mondays but loves lasagna? :-)

My base color for today's mani is Catrice After Eight (old product line), a shimmery blackened teal, like the After Eight chocolate's packaging. I used three coats for complete opacity.

Then I added one coat of Nfu Oh 55, a sheer grass green base filled with flakies shifting from orange to green, and finished with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Rainbow over Atlantis

This mani somehow reminds me of the sea...  (no seashore in Switzerland, though...)

My base color is Barielle End Of The Rainbow, a turquois/teal shimmer. While the color of this polish is very nice, the formula isn't. The picture doesn't really show it, but it was still half translucent after 4 (!) coats. So it's probably best used for layering, if you wanted to wear it alone, it would take like 6 coats...

To hide the still visible nail line, I dabbed China Glaze Atlantis in a slightly gradient-y way on my fingertips. Atlantis has a sheer teal base and is filled with small silver and holographic glitters.

I added one coat of Esence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer for a smooth finish. And yes, the blog post title is false, as I applied Atlantis over End Of The Rainbow, and not the other way round ;-)

Across The Universe

Today I want to show you the mani I was wearing during my Sci Fi Convention. The name fits perfectly for such an event: Across The Universe

Enchanted Polish Across The Universe is part of the Imagine Collection and is named after a Beatles song on their album Let It Be. Like all the polishes of the Imagine Collection, Across The Universe is a multichrome holo polish, changing from blue to purple.

Formula's great, I used three coats on it's own (one coat over black (Manhattan 1010N) and some striping tape on my ring finger) and had no issues with application. I did have some issues with photography, though. I was only able to capture either the color shift or the holo effect, but it proved impossible for me to capture both at the same time...

Bangle Jangle Joker

You've probably realised by now that I love purple, so I have a new purple mani to show you.

As base color I used two coats of Essie Bangle Jangle, a slightly grey-toned pastel lilac creme. Banlge Jangle is surprisingly opaque far a pastel, I only used two coats. It dries really glossy, I used no topcoat on the picture below.

Then I added one dabbed coat of Candeo Colors Joker, "a clear base with blue, purple, lavender and periwinkle hex glitter.  A light sprinkle of large silver hex glitter completes the mix."
(Source: Candeo Colors)

There are also some tiny holographic glitters that make this polish really sparkly. Application was easy, and I finished with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Cult Nail Wicked Fast.

Candeo Colors polishes, including Joker, are available through their own website.
